Australia for Christmas...

All I want for Christmas is the best trip to Australia. Ever. Is that too much to ask? 

I'm headed down under for Christmas/New Years; Cairns/Northern Australia first, then to Sydney. More to come on Cairns, this hotel, and Sydney, etc.

After 24+/- hours of total travel time, at check-in this waterfront "paradise" had better live up to its name. Shangri-La? Fingers crossed.

I was already a fan of the classic Tolix® Marais/Marais Armchair. There's something simply chic about it. The perforated-metal update, in addition to the new colors, really caught my eye when I saw it in the Design Within Reach catalog. 

But the price. Oh, the price. 

$525. Plus tax. Plus shipping. I just couldn't justify it. 

And then, about 4 weeks ago, while I was pursuing DWR.com's sale section (because there are usually a few things within my reach there) this little guy moved from my "want" list to my "have" list (twice). I saw that these were on sale and picked up 2 for myself, in mint green. 


They're small and there's an element of transparency to them that I really like, especially on the small balcony where I put them. Being able to see through them to a certain degree opens up the field of view on my balcony; something I was concerned I would lose by putting any kind of outdoor furniture on a fairly shallow, fairly enclosed balcony.
